Long Way to Go

We are now at the end of the second week of work on the kitchen. Can it be only two weeks? Having the heart of the home out of commission is hard, to put it mildly....especially when you love to cook the way I do and bake.

The wiring for the new ceiling is complex because the existing wiring is not long enough to be pulled up for a cathedral 'new' ceiling.....so, everything has to be rewired. The new lighting will be so different from the old setup so constant thought must be applied. Hopefully, the ceiling will be installed this week but again....it is complex because it is a cathedral ceiling and one just does not 'pop' them into position. :-)

We are being blessed with incredible weather and that is such a saving grace for me. I spend much of my time on the porch and the dock...reading and trying to keep my blood pressure down. I am trying very hard to be grateful and stop looking at the mess. Again, I won't post many pictures of the changes on my blog....I don't want to 'ugly it up.' You have to know me to understand that statement. ;-)

Hope you are having a blessed Sunday. ♥

  2. Barb, I went back and read your first posts of this new blog. (I was not familiar with your old one.) That made me know more where you are coming from and I like it very much. Much to think about and it helps me put blogging in perspective with the rest of my life.

Meanwhile, I know I have written you this before, but when we gutted the back of our house and built on a new kitchen, I cooked with a microwave and electric skillet for over 5 months. It is really hard when you do love to cook. And with us, the things from the back of the house were stored all over the house so it was only our bedroom that I was able to keep normal. So that made it hard to do other projects, other housework. I am gad you can sit outside some during this time. And it will be so amazing when it's finished.

  4. Hang on, Barb! Your kitchen will be finished soon and you'll be cooking up a storm. When we remodeled, we didn't have a tear down or anything, but just taking off cabinet doors and getting new backsplash and countertops - our kitchen was off limits for a while too. I jut took the microwave out and used my slow cooker a lot. I know you're so excited! I'm excited for you.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  7. I understand about you not wanting to post the "ugly" as you put it...I didn't want to post the before pics and during pics of our redo either. But in my case, I was too embarrassed to show what my rooms looked like before we redid them...trust me...bad...LOL. Even the after wouldn't make a remodeling magazine, Goodness, I have laminate counter tops! I know that's not the in thing, but it's all OUR budget could afford, but after living with the previous laminate counter top for over 35+ years, it was a BIG improvement to me...You will really feel like it's worth it when it's done. I know I do!
